Flash Drum (Process Pressure Vessels)

Flash Drum

Introduction

A Flash Drum, also known as a Flash Vessel or Flash Separator, is a critical process pressure vessel used to separate a high-pressure liquid stream into vapor and liquid phases through controlled pressure reduction.

Widely used in refineries, petrochemical units, chemical processing, gas treatment plants, and refrigeration cycles, flash drums provide reliable vapor–liquid equilibrium (VLE) separation necessary for stable process control, energy efficiency, and downstream equipment protection.

Our flash drums are engineered for maximum separation efficiency, minimal pressure drop, stable operation, and long service life under demanding process conditions.

Product Description

A flash drum is a vertical or horizontal pressure vessel that rapidly reduces pressure of a liquid feed to produce instantaneous partial vaporization. During this flashing process, the vessel provides sufficient residence time and internal configuration for vapor–liquid disengagement, ensuring high-purity vapor and liquid outputs. The vessel design is based on thermodynamic phase equilibrium and process simulation.
